Machine Head
Tattoo
Interview Dave Mc Clain
That's in Machine Head's tour-bus during the "Throught the Ashes of Empires" tour 11th October 2004 in Lyon Transbordeur where we met new Drums player, Dave Mc Clain for a conversation.

How did you come to tattoo?
I don't know man! Just being in the Metal shit. Everybody got tattoos. That's cool, like starting stuff and you can't stop.

Which one is your first one? And why did you make it?
My left arm, done by a friend of mine in Phoenix. Pretty designed one. I was like 20 years old I think.
............................................................
Among all your tattoos, which one do you prefer and Why?
My Kiss tattoo, because this I my favourite band. And the tattoo for my wife on my
left arm. We've been together for like ten years and get married. It's a kind of wedding present to her.
.........................................................

Which one is the last one?
The Kiss one, but it is not finished yet. I had to do it twice because ink fell out of it.

Do you have an idea for your next one?
No, but I am looking for a guy who can complete the work already done on my right arm and link all my little shit and having a couple a little other things.

Is there a tattooist's works that impress a lot?
Paul Booth! He is just fucking amazing and original. I love a lot of work he done. But he has like a waiting list and you have to wait like ten fuckin' years to get a tattoo made by him.

For you, what's the importance of tattoo in the music's spirit?
No, I don't really see any link. My tattoos are linked with what I lived in my life.

What do you think about the new rise of tattoo? Do you consider it as a fashion
or a new breath for the body culture?

A lot of people are like trendy getting stuff like, I don't know. In America, on the beaches we see a lot of trendy shit, like the barbwire or the tribal piece on the ass. Every fuckin girl has this shitty tribal piece on their ass!

Do you have a message for kids who would like to be tattooed?
Make sure you know that you want to get. I've got few one I wish I didn't do, but
they are going to be covered up!

Do you regret some of your tattoos?
Yes, one, my first one!
