Walls Of Jericho Tattoo Interview
This interview was made in Lyon the 11-07-04 as the band are in Resistance Tour Manu and Ben have met Candace and Aaron (Singer and Bass Player).
How did you came to tattoo ?

C: I went to a tattoo shop looked at some stuff, , I wanted to get one done so I grab something of the wall, it was a japanese stuff which means love. That's how I got tattoo.

A: I got intiduce to the tattoo world because I had friends that did tattoo. I used to hang around with them, and hang around at their shop a lot, that's how I got my first one and that's also how I started learning to tattoo. I kind of got it doing all at the same time.

Aaron so you are a tattoo artist right ?

A: Yes exactly, that's what I do when I'm not on tour. That's kind of convenient !

Which is your first tattoo ?

A: My first one is the praying hands on my lower back.
................................................
C: For me it's the japanese stuff, but it's on my stomack.

Which one do you prefer ?

C: Aaron did the microphone on my arm, I like it a lot. I'm really happy with what he has been working on.
....................................................
He also did my hand which I really love.

...............................................
A : I only got my back done so I guess it's my favorite tattoo ! (big lough)

...............................................
Which is the last one you got ?

C: Probably my hand. My left arm, is not finished yet, I'm still working on but that doesn't count. So the last one that is actually done was my hand.
.........................................................
A : The last one was my upper back, I just kind of finished that up.

.............................................
Do you have any ideas for your next one ?

C: Oh yeah ! I've got tons of ideas. I wanna do my other hand. I've got a lot of different things in mind. I would depends what comes first when I'll get next to the shop. We'll see.

A: I don't have any ideas, that's why I don't have a lot of tattoos. I'm busy wasting my ideas on other people you know. I'll come out with something cool and somebody else will want it so. I can't ever think of something for myself.

Is there a tattooist work that impress you very much ?

A: Yeah, there is so many people, it's amazing. I'm not really into the typical big name guys. For instance there's this guy that I met Roxy out of Texas, he's amazing. And he's super humble, you'll never see him on magazines, he's not really a big talker, but he does some of the sweetest work I've ever seen. Another guy, Chris Smith, out of Washington DC, he's the same, way, he doesn't care about that kind
of stuff. He's all about just doing clean work.

C: I really like that guy in Michigan, Matt Hustler. Really nice guy that love
what he's doing. That really counts a lot.

Do you think tattoo has now become a fashion ?

C: Yeah I definatly think that there's a fashion to it for a lot of people, that's for sure. But honestly, I don't care, I think that's great. But if you're doing only for the fashion, once you'll get old you'll be pretty screwed. For me, I like tattoo so I don't care what other people do, or think of it.

A: I think that there is a lot of people that are getting it because it has become a fashion. I've seen hundred people with the same stuff, because some punk-rock kid in some band has it. And I see that kind of stuff all the time. But there's also, a million people that don't do that kind of stuff. Those people are really into it because they're into the artwork and they were doing it way before some guy in Blink 182
got popular and shit you know. So it's definatly both, I don't like to judge people on what they want.

Finaly do you got any advice for somebody who would like to get his first tattoo ?

C: Think about it ! Make sure you want it. Make sure you'll go to see somebody who'll do a good job.

A: Find somebody that you like their style. Because that way it loosen up your design ideas. Put your trust in them and let them do what they do, you'll get a way better job done. So find somebody that you love how their stuff looks and then you could be way happier.
